Bathroom Renovation

April 2025

Set within a heritage-listed residence, this striking bathroom balances historic character with bold contemporary intervention.

The space is defined by dramatic black marble-look wall panels contrasted against hand-cut marble floor tiles, individually shaped to honour the craftsmanship of the original home. The rich stone flooring grounds the room, adding texture and authenticity while elevating the overall finish.

A custom timber vanity with a glass countertop and sculptural stone basin introduces warmth and natural contrast against the darker materials. Matte black fixtures and ribbed glass shower screens reinforce the modern edge, while maintaining sensitivity to the period architecture.

With an impressive 4.5-metre ceiling height, the architect introduced a suspended louvre feature to visually lower the scale of the room, creating a more intimate and balanced atmosphere without compromising grandeur. Subtle integrated lighting enhances depth and highlights materiality throughout.

The result is a bold yet respectful reinterpretation of a heritage space — where craftsmanship, architectural detail, and contemporary design coexist seamlessly.
